Our Remodeling Process

A remodel should feel exciting, not stressful. Over 12 years we’ve refined a clear, transparent process that keeps your project on track and keeps you informed from the first conversation to the final walkthrough. Here’s exactly how we work — and what to expect along the way.

How We Work, Step by Step

Every project follows the same clear path: discovery and scope, then design and selections, a detailed fixed-price estimate, contract and deposit, permitting, procurement of materials, construction, and finally inspections, a walkthrough, and handover. You’ll always know what’s happening now and what comes next.

Key Project Milestones

These are the checkpoints we move through together:

  • Design and selections locked in

  • Fixed-price estimate approved and contract signed

  • Permits issued by the City of San Jose

  • Long-lead materials ordered (cabinets, tile, fixtures)

  • Construction begins — demolition, rough-in, and rough inspections

  • Finishes installed — tile, cabinetry, flooring, and paint

  • Final inspections passed

  • Final walkthrough, punch list, and handover

What We’ll Need From You to Get Started

The more we know up front, the faster and more accurate your proposal will be. To begin, it helps to know:

  • Which spaces are in scope — for example, how many bathrooms and which ones, plus the kitchen and any flooring.

  • Whether layouts stay or change — keeping plumbing and walls in place keeps costs down; moving them is the biggest budget driver.

  • Approximate square footage for any flooring, and your preferred material direction.

  • Your target finish level — standard, premium, or luxury — and the overall budget range you’re planning around.

  • Anything you already have — plans, inspiration photos, or fixtures and appliances you’ve picked out.

Don’t worry if you don’t have all of this yet — we’ll help you fill in the gaps.

What to Expect: Typical Timelines

Every project is different, but these are realistic planning ranges:

  • Design and selections: about 4–6 weeks, and this can start early, even remotely.

  • Permitting (San Jose interior remodel): roughly 3–8 weeks, and it can overlap procurement.

  • Procurement: cabinets typically 8–12 weeks; tile and fixtures 2–6 weeks — which is why we order early.

  • Construction: flooring about 1–2 weeks, a bathroom 3–5 weeks, a kitchen 6–10 weeks; a full first-floor scope is roughly 3–5 months.

Starting design and permitting early means construction can begin right when you’re ready. Ready to start? Call or text (408) 667-4946 or request a free estimate.
